Looks like essential viewing and thankyou Fraser for some proper investigation of what exactly is Reform-long overdue

People are thoroughly sick of politicians telling them one thing while doing the opposite. Labour were given a hearing on a promise of change, although the media was so fascinated by the polls in the run up to the election that they forgot to ask them about their ideas and policies. Turns out that despite over 10 years in opposition they hadn’t really given governing much thought. They took office and almost immediately began to sound like the SNP- for those who do not have to suffer life in Scotland that means, make a statement about what you are going to do but have no idea of how to make it happen.

So to all those who say Reform have no experience of governing, I’d say for the last 15 years, longer in Scotland, the people with the experience have failed to address the problems facing our country, have failed to put forward ideas and solutions which will materially improve the lives of citizens. The young are disenchanted and disillusioned. They seem to have been forgotten by the mainstream parties despite their being the most severely impacted by covid, the financial crisis and the cost of living crisis. They were encouraged to go to university at relatively high cost for degrees that get them entry level minimum wage jobs. It’s no wonder they have no buy in to the UK..

Reform may have no experience of governing but that may work in their favour come the next election

Terrific summary. Will be watching. In this case though, I suspect the “break glass in emergency” gesture delivers only a suicide pill. As Labour’s woes over welfare reform prove, this electorate will not accept reality and is determined to bankrupt itself. (See Mary Harrington in UnHerd today. Her history isnt 100% accurate but I believe her thesis is.

Maybe a deal between the Reform Party and the Conservatives would work, maybe not?

Of greater certainty of success perhaps would be for Reform to capture a few big Tory scalps, of those who have some practice and experience in running Government ?

We underestimate the possibility of Reform winning a significant number of seats at the next Election, at our peril. They are moving fast.
