Free speech dies unless people stand up to frauds, bullies and outright liars. Well done all who took off the gloves and said that is enough! Wish there were more with a spine out there. Not fun, but vital.

Well done, Fraser and the Spectator. I assume the court can't do anything to Mr Habib and his funders other than make them pay the Spectator's costs. It's a pity that a clearly bogus case cannot result in something more punitive for those making baseless allegations. And that the libel laws don't provide a stronger protection for free speech.

Refreshing to read that the Judge saw through his blatant lies and fabricated evidence, Well done for exposing him for what he clearly is. Respect to The Spectator!

Well done — such an crucial principle, and it made me chuckle to see!

I met Hijab a many years back at a Muslim-Christian debate. He kept wobbling the Christian debater’s camera tripod and deliberately stood in front of it like weird school bully craving attention.

Then becoming fascinated by his antics I watched him YouTube debate a Christian on the origins of Islam, when it started going south for him, he ripped off his shirt and flexed his muscles. Imagine he was once a primary school teacher!

The Spectator’s worth to society goes far beyond its content. Were only the Spectator USA a similarly heroic fighter for press freedom instead of another regime mouthpiece trading off the Spectator UK’s good name.

The judge should impose a fine and a contempt of court charge again this man because he fabricated evidence.

Well done on this. I’m curious - do you know when abound the claim was filed, as I had understood this had to be within 12 months within publication?
